MSU Mankato geologists strive to provide excellent coverage of all basic elements of geology. The staff bring broad training and experiences to their classes and research. In addition, the geologists rely on a wide array of astronomers, biologists, chemists, and geographers to support and expand our program. A list of our departmental and affiliated colleagues is provided below.
Bryce Hoppie focuses on introductory geology courses and those related to environmental and engineering geology. While his past training and experience addressed ancient sedimentary systems, his work since joining the staff at MSU Mankato concentrates on river-, lake-, and ground-water issues. For more information, see his personal webpage or contact him by email at bryce.hoppie@mnsu.edu.
Steven Losh has teaching and research interests in mineralogy, petrology, and structural geology. He draws on a passion for teaching and extensive experiences in sponsored research to give MSU Mankato students a unique experience— individual instruction from an internationally known researcher. For more information, see his personal webpage or contact him by email at steven.losh@mnsu.edu.
Chad Wittkop has teaching and research interests in sedimentary geology and
Earth surface process. With a research approach that combines traditional
field methods with GPS and GIS technology, his work addresses geologic problems
at a variety of scales. For more information, see his webpage or contact him
by email at chad.wittkop@mnsu.edu.
